Booth Sighting – Casa Loma, Toronto.

Great Friends & Family + Photo Booth + Castle = An Awesome Wedding!

That pretty much sums up the fantastic evening that we had at Elaine & Dara’s wedding this past weekend, which was held at the beautiful Casa Loma estate. They also did a great job by creating their own retro props bucket as well. It included feather boas, fun glasses, classy hats, a retro picture frame and more!

Congratulations Elaine & Dara!

Booth Sighting – Most Wanted Fashion Show, Eagles Nest Golf Club.

May 12th, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

Benefiting cancer research at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Most Wanted brings the latest fashion to it’s invite-only runway show at Eagles Nest Golf Club. This years clothing came from international labels such as Lanvin, Moschino, Valentino, and Georges Chakra and was flown in just for this event.

With such a high fashion presence, it’s only fitting that the organizers of the event contacted us about having the booth as a main feature during the after-show dinner and cocktails. It proved to be a big hit with everyone in attendance, from the guests, to staff… and even some of the models!

See you again next year!

Booth Sighting – The Berkeley Church, Toronto.

May 11th, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

The Berkeley Church (Berkeley Events) is a fun, eclectic venue that is simply filled with character – and of course made for a great setting for the photo booth this past weekend.

The booth was situated on the lower level and was a huge draw at the nursing graduation formal of which it was booked for. From opening time, to shut-down, there was a constant line of a dozen people waiting to strike their best poses. The only time I was even able to get a photo of the booth, was before the event started!

Thanks so much for having the booth at your event and congratulations to all of the graduates!

Booth Sighting – Flash In The Can – The Spoke Club, Toronto.

May 4th, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

Flash In The Can (FITC) is the worlds premiere flash developers conference, which takes place in Toronto every year. During my previous life as a graphic designer, I actually attended this event a few times and was blown away by the creativity and ingenuity of the presenters there. So when Paul, over at Stem contacted me about a multimedia project that he was working on, in collaboration with Sajak Farki, I was quite intrigued! The booth was to be the focal point of the FITC Paunch Party at Toronto’s own Spoke Club and would be running some funky custom software.

It was a great benefit that I had some flash programming experience, as Paul was all the way out in Calgary with his team, developing the platform, while I was in Toronto, testing it out on the photo booth. It ended up being a few late nights, but the end result was amazing, hilarious and maybe even a little scary to some!

The software would combine the photos of two guests to create a merger of facial features and then print a strip with all three.

Booth Sighting – Four Seasons Hotel, Toronto.

April 15th, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

The Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto was the setting for an absolutely fantastic Bar Mitzvah’s party and the booth was there to capture all of the excitement!

Anyone who has ever been to the Four Seasons will know that it’s a very classy establishment, with its tall marble walls , polished floors and ornate furnishings. With such grandeur, many other photo booths would simply not fit in, but booth, with its clean lines and simplicity, complimented the space extremely well.

The props bucket was also getting a lot of use at this event, with mustaches, pirate hats and wigs adorning many of the guests as they stepped in to have their photos captured. A side table was also set up, which had glue sticks, stickers, markers and other scrap booking items on it, so that everyone could write a message and design a page for the guest album. So fun!

A big thanks goes out to Lianne of The Event Boutique for organizing such a fantastic event.

Booth Sighting – Gardiner Museum / Jaime Kennedy, Toronto

April 7th, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

It was quite a treat to have the booth present at a beautiful boutique wedding within Jaime Kennedy’s restaurant at Toronto’s Gardiner Museum this past weekend. I snuck this impromptu self-portrait before things got rolling, by borrowing a little light from the portrait photography set-up across the way.

Congrats!

Booth Sighting – The Local Co., Toronto.

March 22nd, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events  |  2 Comments

This past weekend, the photo booth was capturing the smiles at Brent & Laurie’s 10th Anniversary Party out at The Local Co., which is a stylish lounge & restaurant in Toronto’s Greek Town. The booth was a perfect compliment to the creativity inspired evening that Laurie & Brent put on and was a huge hit with all of the guests!

Congratulations Brent & Laurie! You make 10 years look easy!

Also, thanks go out to The Local Co., and also to Cynthia Martyn for hosting and organizing a great evening.

Booth Sighting – Allied Beauty Association Hair Show

March 2nd, 2010  |  Published in Booth Events

This past weekend, booth was at the Allied Beauty Association Hair Show for one of our clients who wanted a traffic driving mechanism for their display space in order to engage their youth market. Each photo strip was also branded with the company logo as well as links to social media outlets, where the attendees can view and tag themselves resulting in extended market reach.

They also chose to add brand consistency and extra recognition by having us wrap the unit in a full colour decal. It matched perfectly with the rest of their trade show space and really caught the spectators eye as they walked past!

The booth was always busy and 1442 photos were snapped during the two day show. Needless to say, it was a huge hit!

Save Money & Headaches With Idle Hours

February 25th, 2010  |  Published in Tips

I have received a number of phone calls lately from individuals asking what we do if the logistics of their event require the photo booth to be installed on site earlier then it’s scheduled operating time.

This usually occurs at weddings, when the ceremony, dinner and reception all take place at the same venue. It makes moving a 500lb photo booth into place difficult, intrusive or impossible while events are taking place.

To combat this, we offer are “Idle Hours”. These non-operational hours permit us to come in early, deliver the photo booth and have our technician / helper on-site to mind the booth and to prep it for live usage. At $50/hr. it’s much cheaper than extending your operating rental period to accommodate (around 5x that cost!).

Another question I received was “Why can’t you do it for free?”. Ah, that’s a good one. We all like free stuff! But, I need to pay for the on-site staff, pay for parking of our truck (have you ever tried finding truck parking in Toronto?) and for the rental of it as well. It’s the cost of doing business!

I hope that this helps. More informational tidbits coming soon…
